Microsoft Teams: New Policy Setting to Require Explicit Consent for Recording and Transcription in Teams 1:1 Calls

We’re expanding the capability to require explicit consent for recording and transcription to include 1:1 calls in Microsoft Teams. A new setting in the Teams Calling policy allows admins to enforce this requirement before recording or transcription can begin. When a user with the policy initiates recording, transcription, or both in a 1:1 call, the other participant is automatically muted, with their camera and content sharing turned off. The participant will see a prompt asking whether they consent to be included in the recording and transcription.

Organizers and presenters can apply layouts, backgrounds, theme colors, and name tags to deliver events that are polished, professional, and highly engaging. This feature is available to organizers with a Teams Premium license.

Power Platform – Information regarding Copilot hub support ending in the classic Power Platform admin center

Starting on October 6, 2025, Copilot hub support in the classic Power Platform Admin Center will have reached the end of support. Admins will be redirected via a modal dialog to the redesigned Copilot hub in the new Power Platform admin center.

Microsoft OneNote | Sensitivity labels now available on desktop, web, iOS, Android, and Mac

Microsoft is rolling out Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels for OneNote sections across Win32, Web, iOS, Android, and Mac clients (excluding Windows 10 UWP) from late January 2026 to 2027. This enables encryption, access control, and compliance enforcement aligned with organizational policies, enhancing data protection and admin control.

Microsoft Teams: New link in forwarded messages improves context and traceability

Forwarded messages in Microsoft Teams will now include a clickable link to the original message for better context and traceability. This feature, enabled by default, rolls out from mid-October to mid-November 2025 for all Windows and Mac desktop users, requiring no admin action.

[Copilot Chat] Upload multiple reference images to create new images

Users of Copilot Chat in Microsoft 365 will soon be able to upload multiple reference images per session, enhancing image generation. This feature, enabled by default, will roll out globally in late September 2025 with no admin action required. Organizations may update support and documentation accordingly.

Viva Engage: Mute a conversation from Teams for iOS

Viva Engage will allow network admins and corporate communicators to mute conversations directly in the Teams app on iOS and Android, removing muted threads from home feeds and email digests. This feature, enabled by default, will roll out worldwide from early to mid-October 2025.
