Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Custom permissions UI enhancements in Microsoft Purview Information Protection File Labeler

This feature borrows the familiar custom permissions menu in Office and replaces the existing custom permissions UI in the Microsoft Purview Information Protection File Labeler. The new menu enables viewer, restricted editor, editor and owner permissions to be assigned to multiple groups at the same time.

Microsoft OneDrive: Export files as PDF

Microsoft OneDrive will introduce the “Export as PDF” feature, allowing users to convert Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files to PDF starting mid-May 2025. The feature will be accessible via the three-dot menu or command bar and will require appropriate permissions and IRM settings. No admin action is needed for the rollout.

Microsoft Purview | Insider Risk Management: Custom Communication Compliance policy as IRM indicator

Admins will soon be able to select Communication Compliance policy alerts as indicators in Microsoft Purview | Insider Risk Management policies. This feature will roll out from late May to early July 2025. No action is required before the rollout, but admins should review configurations and notify relevant personnel.

SharePoint: Dashboard web part will be available for all sites

The dashboard layout web part in Microsoft SharePoint will be available for all sites, including Team and Communication sites, starting late May 2025. This feature will be on by default and requires no action, but notifying users and updating documentation is recommended. More details are on Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 486832.

An updated version of the May 2025 Scan Cab is available

IMPORTANT: This notice is only relevant for environments where:
  • Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 updates are deployed under the Premium Assurance program
  • Scan Cab is used to check for update compliance
  • The May 2025 Scan Cab (released May 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM PT) was deployed before 11:00 AM PT on May 14, 2025.
 
An updated version of the May 2025 Scan Cab was made available at 11:00 AM PT on May 14, 2025. This Scan Cab includes new metadata corresponding to new updates for the following Windows versions:
  • Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Windows Server 2008

Microsoft Viva: Export event questions

Organizers & co-organizers can now download all event questions (within the past 28 days) —including status, source, timestamps, upvotes and reactions—in a .csv file for easy filtering, analysis, and sharing. The option to export questions is available by default, if there is at least one question posted, on the event page.
