Microsoft Viva Engage is launching centralized admin role management in mid-May 2025, simplifying role assignments and management. This update, part of phasing out the legacy Yammer admin center, will enhance visibility and governance. The new experience will be available in the Engage admin center and will be on by default. No prior admin action is required.

Dynamic rules for Microsoft 365 Backup, released in April 2025, automate backup policies based on distribution lists and security group memberships. This feature, now generally available, reduces manual effort and ensures up-to-date protection. No additional configuration is needed, but review your groups for accuracy. Advanced Data Analysis in Microsoft 365 Mobile Apps’ Copilot Chat will roll out globally from mid-May to late May 2025. It enables users to solve complex math problems, analyze data, and generate visualizations using Python code. No admin action is required, but user notification and documentation updates are recommended.

Sharing with Copilot summary now supports more file types, including PowerPoint, Excel, PDFs, images, and text files, as well as protected files. These enhancements will roll out from mid-May to mid-June 2025. Users can generate file summaries via the Copilot button, included in share notification emails.

Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows will soon allow users to create presentations with Copilot from the Backstage view. This feature requires a Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Copilot 365 license and will roll out from mid-May to late June 2025. No admin action is required, but user notification is recommended.
