SharePoint Online: New document library template type “Resume repository” for resume organization and hiring

SharePoint Online is introducing a new “Resume repository” document library template for organizing resumes and streamlining hiring. It includes autofill columns for extracting resume details and is available to pay-as-you-go billing users. Rollout starts in April 2025 for targeted release and May 2025 for general availability.

Changes to how users install Microsoft 365 apps from the Microsoft 365 Copilot app

The My account portal will be replaced by a new modal dialog within the Microsoft 365 Copilot app for self-installs of Microsoft 365 apps. Rollout begins mid-May 2025 for Targeted Release and late May 2025 for General Availability. Update self-install communications to refer to Microsoft documentation.

Microsoft Teams: Join as attendees in Microsoft events from Teams Rooms on Windows

Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows can now join Microsoft events as attendees with a Teams Rooms Pro license. This feature will roll out from mid-May 2025 to mid-September 2025, depending on the region. No admin action is required, but users should be notified.

Microsoft SharePoint: Customize your sites with multi-color themes

Microsoft SharePoint will soon allow site owners to apply multi-color themes using the Site branding feature or an organization’s brand center. This feature, rolling out in May and June 2025, includes eight new out-of-the-box themes and will be available by default. No admin action is required.

Microsoft Fabric: Changes to delegation capabilities for Microsoft Azure OpenAI tenant settings

Starting May 12, 2025, Microsoft Fabric will update tenant settings to allow tenant admins to control the “Users can use Copilot and other features powered by Azure OpenAI” setting, previously managed by capacity admins. No action is needed unless tenant admins want to remove delegation from capacity admins. No additional Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required.

Microsoft Viva Goals: Optional in-product retirement announcement banner

Microsoft Viva Goals will retire on December 31, 2025. Starting in late April 2025, admins can enable a dismissable in-product banner to inform users about the retirement date via the General tenant admin settings in the Viva Goals admin portal.

Microsoft Fabric: Changes to tenant admin setting that governs the access of service principals to public APIs

Microsoft Fabric will split the existing tenant admin setting for service principal access to public APIs into two settings: one for global APIs (disabled by default) and one for permission-based APIs (enabled by default). This change aims to enhance flexibility for developers while maintaining security. The transition will occur from mid-May to early June 2025. Existing configurations will be retained, and admins have until August 1, 2025, to opt out of automatic changes.
