Dynamic watermarking is a sensitivity label setting that overlays watermark text containing the consuming user’s information on content in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. OneDrive: Prompt to Add Personal Account to OneDrive Sync

This feature enables the OneDrive Sync client on Windows to detect known Microsoft personal accounts associated with business devices and prompt users to sync their personal OneDrive files. If the user accepts the prompt, their personal files will begin syncing alongside their work files. No action is required to enable this behavior by default. Admins can suppress or disable it using the DisableNewAccountDetection or DisablePersonalSync policies.

Microsoft Teams: Support Audit logs for Give and Take Control and Screen share

IT administrators will now have the ability to access detailed logs for both the “Give and Take Control” and “Screenshare” features. These logs will provide comprehensive information, including the names and timestamps of the individuals involved in each action. Specifically, the logs will indicate who initiated or received control, as well as who started the screenshare session, along with the corresponding timestamps and names. This enhancement ensures greater transparency and accountability for all control and screenshare activities. Accessible in Teams Admin Centre.

Microsoft Purview Compliance Portal: Custom CC policy as IRM indicator

IRM admins can now select any Communication Compliance (CC) Policy alerts as indicators in IRM policies. After this rollout, IRM admins can select any custom CC policies that they would like to bring into IRM and detect if a user has alerts for these CC policies. When an IRM alert is generated, admins can review if there are any alerts for the user within CC under the policies that are enabled as indicators. This feature will help admins and analysts view this information in IRM without switching to CC.

Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies to manage security and compliance. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.

Microsoft Viva: Modernized Viva Engage Email Subscription Management

We are modernizing the existing email subscription management experience in Viva Engage to make it more user-friendly and intuitive. Previously, unsubscribe and notification settings links in emails opened legacy web pages with limited functionality. With this update, those links will now direct users to refreshed, modern pages where they can easily manage their email preferences. Users will be able to unsubscribe or resubscribe to specific email types through a cleaner and more accessible experience. The rollout of this update will begin in late April 2025 and is expected to complete by early May 2025.

Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft OneDrive: New PDF compression feature

Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive will introduce a PDF compression feature in April-May 2025, allowing users to reduce PDF file sizes with three compression levels. The feature will be available by default, and no admin action is required. Users can compress PDFs up to 300 MB.

Viva Glint admins can enable Copilot for the Company admin user role starting mid-May 2025. This change will be automatic and default, requiring a Viva Glint, Viva Suite, or Viva Workforce Analytics license. Admins should review configurations and notify users. Microsoft Teams Premium: Moderator-governed meetings for information barrier compliance

Microsoft Teams Premium will introduce a moderated meeting template for secure collaboration between users separated by information barriers. Meetings require a designated moderator for compliance, and attendees wait in the lobby until the moderator joins. This feature, available for various Teams platforms, requires IB v2 configuration and a Teams Premium license for organizers. Rollout starts in May 2025.

Microsoft Purview | Data Loss Prevention: Ability to rename policy and rules

Microsoft Purview will soon allow DLP admins to rename existing policies and rules without recreating them. The feature will roll out in stages from July to October 2025 and will be supported across major workloads. A new editable field, DisplayName, will be introduced. No admin action is required before the rollout.
