Microsoft Purview Compliance Portal: Changes to case creation process in Purview portal when confirming alerts from Defender XDR portal and content retention periods in cases

With this release, alerts confirmed from the Defender XDR portal (security.microsoft.com) will not result in automatic case creation in the Purview portal. To create a case, Insider Risk Management analysts or investigators must manually click on the “Confirm all alerts & create case” button in the Purview portal from the alert that was previously confirmed through Defender XDR. When a case is created for a specific user based on the generated alert, related content such as online files and emails, is made available in the Content explorer tab. Additionally, any new content that generates or adds to an alert is included in the Content explorer for review during up to the 30 days from the creation of the Case. After these 30 days, new content identified for the user based on alerts will NOT be added to the Content explorer. To access new content, the existing case must be closed and a new Case created.

Take Action: Out-of-band updates to address issues with local policy events in Active Directory group policy

Microsoft has identified an issue where audit logon/logoff events in the local policy of the Active Directory Group Policy might not show as enabled on the device even if they are enabled and working as expected. This can be observed in the Local Group Policy Editor or Local Security Policy, where local audit policies show the “Audit logon events” policy with security setting of “No auditing”. An out-of-band (OOB) update has been released today, April 11, 2025, to address this issue.

Teams Meetings Copilot response can be shared to external apps (Word or Excel)

Microsoft 365 Copilot responses in Microsoft Teams meetings can be shared to external apps (Word or Excel). Responses generated by Copilot in Meetings will come with a button to Open in another app. Although this will start with Word and Excel, more apps will be added in the future.

Microsoft Viva Pulse: New Delegation feature

Coming soon to Microsoft Viva Pulse: A new Delegation feature. Users in your tenant will be able to assign other users as delegates to create and send pulses on their behalf. A delegator can have a maximum of 5 delegates. A user can only be a delegate of one individual.

Microsoft Teams: Usage reports will include all town hall usage data in your tenant

When town hall was released in Microsoft Teams, some columns of data related to each town hall event were missing in the Microsoft Teams admin center usage reports for admins. This rollout fixes that issue by adding all relevant usage related data to the town hall usage reports.

Microsoft Teams: Create new channels faster from the “New items” menu at top of the list of chats and channels

Coming soon in Microsoft Teams: Users will be able to create new channels in a Team directly from the New items drop-down at top of their list of chats and channels, eliminating the need to scroll down to the specific team. Channel creators can choose the team in which to host the new channel.

Coming soon: Eligible users will be prompted in the Message Bar below the toolbar in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows desktops to enroll in OneDrive Known Folder Move (KFM). Users will be able to select the folders to back up in Microsoft OneDrive.
