Microsoft 365 admins can now enable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for OneDrive for Business, improving file searchability and compliance. This feature will be available globally from early to mid-April 2025 and incurs additional costs. Admins can set it up via the Microsoft 365 admin portal.

The March 2025 Windows non-security preview update is now available for some supported versions of Windows

The March 2025 non-security preview update is now available for Windows 11, versions 23H2, and 22H2, as well as Windows 10, version 22H2. The non-security preview update for Windows 11, version 24H2 will be available soon. Microsoft Purview: IRM RBAC Change (related to Data Security Investigations) Preview

Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management (IRM) will introduce a new role, Data Security Investigation Contributor, allowing IRM Investigators to launch Data Security Investigations (DSI) from IRM cases. DSI, an AI-powered solution, helps identify, analyze, and mitigate data security risks. The public preview begins in April 2025, with general availability in June 2025. No admin action is required before the rollout.

New Startup Boost task from Microsoft Office installer for Office applications

Microsoft is introducing a new Startup Boost task to optimize Office applications’ performance and load-time. It will roll out in May 2025, initially for Microsoft Word. The task is optional, visible in Windows Task Scheduler, and can be disabled via in-app settings. No admin action is required for the rollout.

New Microsoft Outlook and Outlook for the web: New setting to enable two-click view for encrypted emails

New Outlook for Windows desktop and Outlook for the web will support a two-click view for encrypted emails starting April 2025. Admins can enable this feature, which requires user confirmation before accessing encrypted emails, to reduce accidental exposure. The setting is disabled by default.
