Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365: Apply suggestions for Coaching by Copilot in Microsoft Outlook

Coaching by Copilot in Microsoft Outlook introduces an ‘Apply All’ button to implement coaching feedback and rewrite email drafts. Rolling out from late July to early September 2024, it’s available in new Outlook versions and requires an active Copilot license. No admin action needed for the update.

Microsoft 365 admin center: Admins can no longer receive user passwords in email as of August 30, 2023

Starting August 30, 2024, the ‘Send password in email’ feature will be retired from the Microsoft 365 admin center. Admins should use the ‘Print’ option to securely share user account details. No action is required from admins for this change.

Microsoft Clipchamp: Remove image background from videos

Microsoft Clipchamp will soon allow users to make image backgrounds transparent in videos without losing quality. This feature will be available to all users, with rollouts starting late July 2024 and completing by mid-August 2024. No admin action is required for the update.

Purview | Data Loss Prevention: Microsoft 365 Groups scoping in Teams DLP policy extend protection to 1:1/n chats

Microsoft 365 Groups in Teams DLP policy will now automatically include 1:1 and group chats for protection, without needing to add users or groups manually, except when using OCR. Rollout begins late August 2024, with completion by late September 2024. Admins should review their Teams DLP policies in preparation.

Microsoft OneDrive: Update for unlicensed accounts

OneDrive is updating storage policies for business and enterprise unlicensed accounts, effective late January to March 2025. Unlicensed accounts over 90 days will be archived and inaccessible to users but visible to admins. Actions include archiving, deletion, or renewal. Education tenants are currently exempt.

Microsoft Teams: Sensitivity label support for town hall and webinars

This feature will now allow event organizers to set sensitivity labels for town halls and webinars. These labels are visible to organizers when creating an event instance once selected, and notify organizers if the details of the event being created are not valid for the selected sensitivity.

Microsoft 365 app: Use sensitivity labels in Microsoft 365 apps when connected experiences are disabled

Your organization can now disable connected experiences for privacy concerns without impacting data security policies, such as sensitivity labels. Services associated with Microsoft Purview (e.g. sensitivity labels and rights management) are no longer controlled by policy settings to manage privacy controls for Microsoft 365 Apps. Instead, these services will rely on their existing security admin controls in Purview portals.

Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Insider Risk Management- Bulk upload for Priority User Groups

Insider Risk Management Priority user groups will now support bulk upload capabilities. An IRM administrator will be able to upload a CSV of UPNs that they would like to add to a new or existing priority user group. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.
