We’re introducing modifications in the container type creation cmdlets. The New-SPOContainerType cmdlet will only create a new container type. We are introducing the Add-SPOContainerTypeBilling cmdlet to add billing profile to the new container type.

Certain SSPM recommendations from Exposure Management in the Defender portal will be retired to ensure accurate security posture representation. This will start in mid-February 2025 and complete by mid-March 2025. The retirement includes various recommendations, and no action is needed to prepare for this change.
Microsoft Purview introduces a new feature for data governance administrators to permanently delete sensitive content from Exchange mailboxes, bypassing legal holds and retention policies. This feature is part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 392838 and will roll out in early February 2025. It includes multiple approvals and auditing for security.
Microsoft Teams is introducing new recording policies for town halls and webinars, allowing separate control of event behavior. This update, referenced by Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 473887, will roll out from mid to late February 2025. Organizations should prepare by updating recording policies using PowerShell commands.
Microsoft Teams will introduce SMS chat in calling plans for U.S. and Canada customers, enabling them to send and receive SMS in Teams. This feature will be available on various Teams platforms and is expected to roll out in mid to late February 2025. Admins must enable SMS for users.
New transcription policies for Microsoft Teams town halls and webinars will allow finer control and won’t follow the current Teams meeting transcription policies. They will be configurable in the Teams admin center or with PowerShell commands after mid-February 2025. Admins should prepare by updating policy values accordingly.
New features are coming to Microsoft Viva Engage for the Microsoft 365 Copilot adoption community, including recommendations for similar questions and answers, and the ability for admins to apply adoption features to different communities. Rollout begins January 2025 with no required action for admins to prepare.
We are announcing the Use Use the Power Platform Environment Settings app feature for Power Apps. This feature replaces the legacy, web client experience and provides a single, unified experience for application developers to create settings for their applications. This feature will reach general availability on January 31, 2025.
Starting on January 15, 2025, the Converting Owner team to Access team and reassigning Team’s records feature will be made available in the Power Platform admin center (PPAC).
