SharePoint Drag and Drop Experience Updates

SharePoint and Amplify canvas have new drag and drop updates, including bigger drop hints, updated cursor icons, and the ability to add new sections or replace images easily. Rollout begins mid-January 2025, with general availability in February. Organizations should prepare users and help desks for these changes.

Microsoft Outlook for Windows and web: Tips pane will move to the ribbon

The Tips pane in Microsoft Outlook will be relocated to the Help tab on the ribbon, affecting new Outlook for Windows and the web. This update, part of Roadmap ID 470022, will roll out from mid-January to mid-March 2025 and requires no admin action.

Outlook: Move email between mailbox and PST file in new Outlook for Windows

With this update of support for .pst files (a.k.a. Outlook data files) in the new Outlook for Windows, users will be able move (drag and drop) emails from a .pst file to a mailbox and vice versa. Future releases of new Outlook will expand the support for .pst file capabilities. #newoutlookforwindows

Microsoft Viva: Viva Amplify – Support for dwell time and clicks graphs in Amplify reporting

This release will add two new graphs to Amplify reporting: dwell time and clicks. The dwell time graph will indicate the average time users spend reading a publication, giving important insight into the engagement of users with the Amplify campaign. The clicks graph will indicate the number of times a link in the publication was clicked by a reader, again giving important insight into the engagement level of users. Both of these metrics will be supported from SharePoint and Outlook channels.

Outlook: Manage email in PST files in new Outlook for Windows

With this update of support for .pst files (a.k.a. Outlook data files) in the new Outlook for Windows, users will be able to move, copy, delete, flag/unflag, mark as read/unread, and set categories for email within .pst files. Additionally, users will be able to create, delete, move, and rename folders within .pst files. Future releases of new Outlook will expand the support for .pst file capabilities. #newoutlookforwindows

Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Endpoint Data Loss Prevention – Cross workload predicate support on Mac Endpoints (File size, partially scannable, etc.)

With this capability, admins can extend these mentioned predicates to Microsoft Purview DLP for Endpoint: document is unscannable, document didn’t complete scanning, document name matches patterns, document size equals or is greater than, document Property Is, and document name contains words or phrases.

Outlook: FSLogix support for the new Outlook for Windows

FSLogix support for the new Outlook for Windows includes registering the new Outlook for Windows package by family name and persisting the user data in LocalAppData. It will allow the roaming of user data in new Outlook for non-persistent VDI. #newoutlookforwindows
