IT admins can adjust the text size on the front-of-room display by adjusting the display scaling using Windows display scaling settings or XML settings, providing greater accessibility options. Changing the display scaling percentage also affects the size of other UI elements.

Microsoft Teams: Extended directory retires starting July 22, 2024

We will be retiring the Extended directory preview-only feature for Connected Chat in Microsoft Teams starting July 22, 2024, and ending July 31, 2024. Instead, we recommend admins use Teams connect chat supported by external access, where we will continue to invest our development resources. You can access the External access features in Teams admin center > Users > External access.

The Extended directory feature, which was released to public preview customers in February 2024, is being deprecated due to low feature usage and customer demand. As a result, we will gradually phase out the feature by disabling it in all interfaces. The retiring feature was accessed with the Manage external user profiles button:

Updating conversation actions on Microsoft Outlook for iOS

Microsoft Outlook for iOS is updating conversation actions to a customizable bar at the bottom of the screen, accessible from the Inbox on long-press. The rollout begins in early July 2024 and ends by late July 2024. Organizations should inform users and update documentation.

Microsoft Clipchamp: The Brand kit feature is rolling out with extended elements to Microsoft subscriptions

The Microsoft Clipchamp Brand kit feature is being added to certain Microsoft subscriptions, allowing users to create, share, and use collections of brand assets. It will roll out between mid-July and late August 2024 for users with specific licenses, and it will support extended elements. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Microsoft 365 apps: Improved resharing experience

Microsoft 365 apps are improving the resharing experience. Users will be able to copy view-only links directly from the Share dialog, and request sharing permissions from file owners if needed. Rollout begins late June 2024, with no admin action required. Learn more at Microsoft Support.

Microsoft Teams: Message result suggestions when typing to search

Microsoft Teams will introduce message result suggestions during search queries, allowing users to easily find relevant messages. This feature is part of the Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 398955 and will be rolled out in stages starting early July 2024. Users can narrow down search results to “messages” and see suggestions with details like sender name, profile picture, and message location. The rollout will be automatic and requires no action from users.

The new Microsoft Teams on the web Progressive Web App (PWA) is available now on Windows and macOS

The Microsoft Teams on the web PWA is now available for Windows and macOS on Edge and Chrome, offering features like pinning to taskbar and auto-start on login. It’s ready for installation from the browser’s address bar, with no special preparation needed by admins but they may inform users and update documentation.

Microsoft Teams: Tenant Federation setting to control external access with trial-only tenants

Microsoft Teams is introducing a new admin control to block external access with Teams trial-only tenants to protect against malicious activities. The default setting will block such access 30 days after rollout, requiring admin action to allow federation with trial tenants. General availability is now, with blocking enforced from July 29, 2024. Admins should review settings and use PowerShell to configure the desired access level.

Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps: Files page retires September 1, 2024

The Files page in Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps will be retired on September 1, 2024. Users should use the Policy Management page for creating, modifying, and exploring Information Protection policies and malware files. This change affects users currently utilizing the Files page.
