Microsoft Teams admin center: Non-disruptive device operations for Microsoft Teams devices

The Microsoft Teams admin center introduces a feature for Android-based Teams devices to perform updates and configurations only when devices are idle, preventing disruptions during active use. This will start rolling out in late February 2025 and requires updates to the Teams app and admin agent app.

Microsoft Teams: Pop out Chat, Copilot, and Notes panes in meetings

Microsoft Teams will soon allow users to pop out Notes, Chat, and Copilot panes during meetings. This feature, part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 421607, will be available with a Copilot license and will roll out from mid-January to late February 2025. No admin action is required for this update.

Microsoft Purview | eDiscovery: Keyword report in Review set

A new feature in Microsoft Purview | eDiscovery will allow generating and downloading keyword reports from review sets using KQL queries. It’s part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 171751, rolling out from December 2024 to March 2025, and will not disrupt current workflows. Preparation involves evaluating the feature’s impact on eDiscovery processes.

Microsoft Viva Connections on the SharePoint app bar

A new entry point for Viva Connections will be added to the SharePoint app bar, with rollouts starting mid-January 2025 for Targeted Release and late January 2025 for General Availability. This feature requires a published dashboard and enabled Viva Connections on tenants. No admin action is needed before the rollout.

New Pay-as-you-go billing model for Agents in SharePoint

SharePoint introduces a Pay-as-you-go billing model for Agents, starting mid-January 2025. Admins must set up billing in the Microsoft 365 admin center using an Azure subscription and resource group. This allows unlicensed users to access Agents, while licensed users continue as per their terms.

Microsoft Teams: BYOD mode will activate cameras on meeting room audio devices

The Microsoft Teams BYOD mode update will automatically activate room cameras on audio devices with video components during meetings. This applies to Teams for Windows and Mac desktops, starting mid-January 2025, with full rollout by early February 2025. Organizations should inform users and review peripheral inventory.

Power Apps – Test your canvas apps prior to the being migrated to the New Analysis Engine

In July 2024, we released the New Analysis Engine for Power Apps canvas apps. This new engine decreases app load times and improves performance when authoring an app. All apps still using the old analysis engine will be migrated to the New Analysis Engine starting February 2025.

Microsoft Teams: Shared tab in channel

The Files tab in channels is now “Shared”. In addition to files that are currently shown from document library, new experience will also show all the files and links shared in the channel conversations. This makes it easier to find content all in one place.

OneDrive: Ask Copilot questions about images

Now, you can ask questions about images stored in your OneDrive. Select up to 5 images and ask questions like explaining the contents of an image or extracting relevant text from an image. This feature requires a Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 license and will be available to commercial customers on OneDrive Web.
