Microsoft Purview | Data Lifecycle Management: Separate Copilot retention policies from Teams chats

Microsoft is separating Copilot retention policies from Teams chats, allowing admins to create distinct retention policies for Copilot interactions. This change requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and will be available in Public Preview from mid-November 2024, with General Availability starting mid-January 2025.

Outlook: Optional connected experiences privacy setting

This rollout introduces the privacy setting for “Allow the use of additional optional connected experiences in Office” in Outlook on the web which is available in other Office apps today. The setting is found under Settings > General > Privacy and data > Privacy settings.

Microsoft 365 admin center: Usage reports – New Outlook for Windows

The Microsoft 365 apps usage report will include usage metrics for the new Outlook for Windows. This feature allows organizations to monitor the adoption and usage of the new Outlook for Windows client within their organization. The report provides detailed metrics on the number of active users who have transitioned from Outlook for Windows (classic) to the new Outlook for Windows.

Viva Engage – Edit and schedule polls

Users can schedule a poll for publication in Engage. Users can also edit a poll prior to publication, though once published, a poll is not editable.

This change brings the edit and schedule capability to polls, like all other post types in Engage (discussion, question, praise, and article).

Outlook: Reset people suggestions in Outlook search for GCC and DoD

This feature will allow users to reset, export, and/or opt out of people suggestions in search through settings in the Outlook on the web and the new Outlook for Windows. When a reset is done, all versions of Outlook will reflect the change. This feature is already available in worldwide multitenant and will now be available for customers in GCC and DoD. #newoutlookforwindows

Microsoft Teams: Inherit sensitivity labels from shared files to Teams meetings (Premium)

For Microsoft 365 E5 and Teams Premium customers, we are making it easier to leverage sensitivity labels from Microsoft Purview Information Protection to help set the right protection settings to meetings. Admins can now set a label inheritance policy for meeting, so that when an attendee shares a file that has a higher sensitivity than the meeting itself in meeting chat or via Live share, the meeting’s sensitivity can be updated either automatically or via a recommendation to the organizer, to match with the sensitivity of the shared file.

Planner: Board view in My Tasks

Board view in My Tasks offers a visual representation of your tasks similar to a kanban board, making it easier to track progress and manage your workload. See all your tasks at a glance and move them between columns to update their progress. You can group tasks by Plan, Progress, Due Date, and Priority, allowing you to tailor the board to your specific needs.
Board view is available in addition to the existing grid view in My Tasks.

All installed agents (including erstwhile Microsoft 365 Copilot plugins) can now be accessed via one location in Copilot

All Microsoft 365 Copilot agents, including plugins, are being centralized to the right pane for a unified user experience. Web content control is moving to the top screen menu. The updates will roll out from late November 2024 to January 2025, requiring no action from admins.

Entra ID: Expansion of WhatsApp as an MFA one-time passcode delivery channel

Starting December 2024, Microsoft Entra will reintroduce WhatsApp as a channel for delivering MFA OTPs in India, with expansion to more countries. Users with WhatsApp will receive OTPs there, with SMS as a fallback. Organizations can disable this feature or opt for more secure methods like Microsoft Authenticator.
