Microsoft Stream: New suggestions for including your Microsoft 365 content in Callouts

Microsoft Stream will soon enhance the ‘Interactivity’ feature, allowing editors to easily add document links to Callouts in videos. Suggestions will be based on Microsoft 365 activity, with an option to search for additional resources within Stream. Rollout starts mid-May 2024, completing by mid-July 2024. No admin action is required.

General availability of managing admin roles using Entra Privileged Identity Management announcement

We are announcing the general availability of managing admin roles with Microsoft Entra Privileged Identity Management (PIM) for Dynamics 365 Apps and Power Platform. Beginning on May 23, 2024, this feature enables you to use Entra PIM to assign tenant admin roles for a certain time period.

Microsoft 365 Power Apps – Canvas App default tenant settings changing

We are announcing that the tenant setting “disableShareWithEveryone” that was previously set to “off” by default, will now be set to “on” by default. This means that makers will not be able to share their canvas apps with the “Everyone” group without changing this setting. We’re doing this to align with Microsoft’s recent security recommendations of being “Secure by Default”. Preventing sharing with this group aligns with this security posture due to the overexposure of data that comes with sharing an app with “Everyone” when it is not required.

Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Data Lifecycle Management – Introduction of secure workflow to bypass legal holds and retention policies

The first release of Priority cleanup enables admins to create a recurring exception to delete items under a broader retention policy and/or legal hold. Creating a Priority cleanup will require a separate security role, multiple approvers, and will have a complete audit trail. For example, you could reduce storage space by deleting meeting recordings, even when the OneDrive location has a longer retention policy. The feature also helps with scenarios such as data spillage cleanup and processing right to be forgotten requests.

Microsoft Teams: New meeting option to control permissions for admitting participants from lobby

Microsoft Teams introduces a new meeting option allowing organizers to control who can admit participants from the lobby. This update provides two choices: only organizers and co-organizers, or including presenters. The feature will roll out in July 2024, with no specific action required for implementation. Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 392836 is associated with this update.

Microsoft Teams: Organizers can manage access to meeting transcripts, recordings, AI-generated recap, and Copilot

Microsoft Teams meeting organizers can soon manage access to recordings, transcripts, AI recaps, and Copilot features. This will roll out in June 2024, with settings accessible under the ‘Recording and transcript’ tab. Options include access for everyone, organizers only, or specific people. The default setting is ‘Everyone.’
