Microsoft Teams: Avatars wardrobe updates available soon

New professional wardrobe styles for avatars are coming to Microsoft Teams, with a rollout expected to complete by mid-May 2024. This update will be available for various Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 licenses and will require no admin action prior to rollout. Users can customize their avatars in the Avatars for Teams app. Some may experience color changes in their avatar’s outerwear, which can be easily customized.

TLS server authentication: Deprecation of weak RSA certificates

Weak RSA key lengths for certificates will be deprecated on future Windows OS releases later this year. We recommend you use a stronger solution of at least 2048 bits length or an ECDSA certificate, if possible. Support for the RSA algorithm itself won’t be affected. Update to supported languages in Teams Meeting Copilot

Teams Meeting Copilot now supports 16 new languages, making a total of 27 supported languages. Unsupported language responses have been removed to avoid misuse. Rollout begins mid-May 2024, completing by late May. Organizations should prepare by informing users of the supported languages.

New search folders supported in new Outlook for Windows and web

New Outlook for Windows and web introduces two search folders: ‘Categorized Mail’ and ‘Mail from Specific People,’ to improve search functionality. Rollout starts mid-June 2024, completing early July 2024. Users must manually create these folders to use the new features. Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365: Relevance Tuning for Graph connectors

Microsoft is introducing Relevance Tuning for Graph connectors in Microsoft Search and Copilot for Microsoft 365, allowing admins to assign importance weights to properties of Graph connections for more relevant search results. General Availability is expected from early to late May 2024. Admins may need to adjust property weights and consult data source owners for optimal relevance ranking. Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365: Use Draft with Copilot in Microsoft Word based on text, list, or table selections

Microsoft 365 introduces Copilot for Word, allowing users to generate new content by selecting text, lists, or tables. The feature will roll out from late April 2024 to early August 2024, requiring no admin action for the update. For more details, users can visit the provided support link.

Sway: Changes in Video/Audio upload for new content

Starting early June 2024, Sway authors can no longer upload new video and audio files but must embed them instead. Previously uploaded media will still work. Users should familiarize themselves with the embedding feature to prepare for this change.
