Microsoft Teams: Speaker recognition and attribution for all Teams Rooms

With Microsoft Teams Rooms, participants can be distinguished automatically regardless of what kind of device is capturing audio in a meeting, and their contributions are attributed in the transcript, making meetings more inclusive and productive. Speaker recognition will be enabled for any in-person meeting participant who has completed the simple face and voice enrollment process, and is included on the meeting invitation. They can also see auto-generated meeting action items assigned to them, important decisions, and meeting highlights by using Copilot.

Chat history coming to Microsoft Copilot with commercial data protection (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise) – ON HOLD

The rollout of chat history for Microsoft Copilot with commercial data protection is on hold. It allows users to view and continue past chats. A PowerShell script is available to manage this feature, which will be rolled out in mid to late May 2024. Users must consent to new terms to use chat history, which is stored for 30 days.

Microsoft 365: Archive feature for inactive sites on SharePoint

Microsoft 365 is introducing an archive feature for SharePoint to archive inactive sites, which will help save on storage costs. This feature will be available worldwide from late April to mid-May 2024. SharePoint and Global admins can manage this through the SharePoint admin center or PowerShell. Microsoft SharePoint: New Section Level Content Align on pages

Microsoft SharePoint is introducing a new feature that allows authors to align content across columns at the top, center, or bottom of a section. This option is available for 2-column and 3-column sections and will be rolled out worldwide from mid to late May 2024. No action is needed to prepare for this update.

Microsoft Teams: Create avatars from photo

Microsoft Teams will introduce a feature to create avatars from photos using AI technology, rolling out in mid-May to mid-June 2024. It requires a quad-core processor, 4 GB RAM, and is available for various Microsoft Teams and Office 365 licenses. Users can create up to three avatars and need Teams 2.1 or newer on Windows PC or Mac. To prepare, enable Mesh Avatars in the Teams Admin Center.

Microsoft Purview | Compliance portal: New logs for audit activities

Microsoft Purview | Audit search: New filters will be available

Microsoft Purview’s audit search is adding four new filters: Id, UserType, UserKey, and ClientIP. These will help organizations better investigate user activities. The update is part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 384092, with a Public Preview in late May 2024 and full rollout by late June 2024. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Microsoft Purview | Insider Risk Management: Adaptive protection – Enhancements to risk level settings

Microsoft 365 is enhancing Insider Risk Management with configurable risk level expiration settings for adaptive protection. Admins can choose to retain or expire risk levels after a user’s alert is dismissed or case is resolved. Public Preview starts in May 2024, with General Availability in July 2024.
