SharePoint: “Revoke SPOUserSession” retires starting November, 2024

The Revoke-SPOUserSession cmdlet for SharePoint Online is retiring in November 2024. Users should transition to using Revoke-MgUserSignInSession. The rollout starts early November and finishes by mid-November. After retirement, attempts to use the old cmdlet will result in an error directing to the new cmdlet.

Microsoft Teams: Update to macOS keyboard shortcuts

Microsoft Teams is updating macOS keyboard shortcuts to align with macOS HIG policy, with rollouts starting late October 2024 and completing by mid-December 2024. The update will remove “Options” and “Control” shortcuts to avoid conflicts with macOS shortcuts. Details will be available in Teams and on Microsoft Support. No admin action is required.

Microsoft Viva Insights: Business Leader role removal

In January 2025, Microsoft Viva Insights will discontinue the Business Leader role, maintaining Manager, Analyst, and Delegate roles. Affected users can retain access through delegation by a Manager. The “whole company” view will also be removed, but can be accessed via top leader delegation. Preparation involves assigning affected users as delegates.

Microsoft Intune In Development for October 2024 is now available

The “In Development for Microsoft Intune” page has been updated with a list of features for upcoming releases, aiding in readiness and planning. Users will see these changes within the next month or later. IT staff should be informed to update user guidance accordingly.

Microsoft Purview compliance portal | Communication Compliance: Notify users about hidden content matches

The Microsoft Purview compliance portal will soon introduce a notification banner alerting users to compliance policy matches triggered by hidden content. This feature, available by default, will enhance transparency and efficiency in investigations. Rollout begins late October 2024, with full availability by early December 2024. No admin action is required before the rollout.

On-demand Index Life Cycle Change for SharePoint and OneDrive Search and Application Permission Based Requests

Starting November 1, 2024, on-demand indexes for SharePoint and OneDrive Search using Application Permissions will be decommissioned if not queried in 100 days. This change does not affect normal user or delegated permissioned Search traffic. Organizations should plan for potential index rebuild time for infrequent application searches.

Feature update: Remove live event conversations from the community feed

The update will restrict live event conversations to the event feed only, not the community feed. This applies to new events from early October to November 2024. Past events’ conversations will remain in the community feed. No action is required for this default change.

Exchange Online token deprecation plan

Legacy Exchange Online tokens are deprecated, and Outlook add-ins using them will break when deactivated. Add-ins must migrate to Nested App Authentication (NAA) and Entra ID tokens. Administrators should update add-ins and consent to new permissions, while developers must revise code and register the updated add-ins in Azure. A timeline for deactivation is provided, with tooling for admins to manage legacy tokens coming in October 2024.
