Updates for Android-based Microsoft Teams devices will be more flexible, allowing for stand-alone app updates. Rollouts start in August 2024 and will enable updates via the Teams admin center for individual components like Microsoft Intune and Authenticator, with automatic updates for certain apps. No action is required from administrators to prepare.

A new Microsoft OneDrive feature allows bulk export of admin reports on device status, including various user and sync details. It’s linked to Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 88870 and will be available between December 2024 and January 2025. Organizations should enable OneDrive sync reports for data availability.

The new Outlook for Windows allows users to open attachments in their preferred desktop apps by double-clicking, streamlining the workflow. This update, linked with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 401123, will roll out between late August and mid-October 2024. No admin action is required for this automatic update.

Microsoft Teams is rolling out a feature for meeting organizers to enable attendee voting on questions and archiving questions from the Q&A feed. Communication compliance policies will filter out bulk emails such as newsletters to help customers triage policy matches more efficiently. This will be an option for all policies in Communication Compliance. New policies will have this filtering on by default, but admins will have the option to configure as well as remove the filtering.
Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance helps organizations detect explicit code of conduct and regulatory compliance violations, such as harassing or threatening language, sharing of adult content, and inappropriate sharing of sensitive information. Built with privacy by design, usernames are pseudonymized by default, role-based access controls are built in, investigators are explicitly opted in by an admin, and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.

We are adding two additional pre-configured quick policy templates for crown jewel protection and email exfiltration for admins that want to deploy scenario specific policy templates with little configurations needed to get started faster. These templates are in addition to the existing data leak and data theft quick policies. All 4 scenario based quick policies can be found in the Policies page> Create Policies. Additional tuning post deployment to meet individual alert volume needs can be expected. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.
