30-Day Reminder: Windows 10, version 21H2 end of servicing (Enterprise & Education)

On June 11, 2024, Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise editions of Windows 10, version 21H2 will reach end of servicing. The upcoming June 2024 security update, to be released on June 11, 2024, will be the last update available for this version. After this date, devices running this version will no longer receive monthly security and preview updates containing protections from the latest security threats.

Microsoft Viva: Enhanced capabilities for spotlight in Viva Connections!

Viva Connections is enhancing spotlight capabilities, providing more control over content display with 11 slots. Pinned items will be shown first, followed by dynamic SharePoint news. The desktop experience will blend prioritized content with news updates. Rollouts begin mid-May 2024, with new customization settings introduced. Preparation involves generating news and selecting content sources for spotlight.

Microsoft Teams: Explicit consent for recording data in audit logs

Starting mid-May 2024, IT admins will see enriched Teams Meeting Recording audit logs with consent data, regardless of the attendance report policy. This global update requires no action if “explicit consent for recording” is enabled, otherwise, follow the provided Microsoft Learn link to prepare.

Microsoft Teams: Unified settings and policies management in Teams admin center

Microsoft Teams admin center is introducing a unified settings and policies management experience, consolidating them in one place for easier administration. Rollout begins in June 2024, with options to opt-in or opt-out until mandatory adoption by the end of September 2024. No changes to existing settings and policies are required.

Microsoft SharePoint Online: New Banner web part (updated title area) in Pages and News

Microsoft SharePoint Online is introducing a new Banner web part for Pages and News, allowing users to remove or add multiple banners to a page. Targeted Release begins late May 2024, with General Availability starting mid-June 2024. The update includes new Banner layouts and affects page templates and title synchronization. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Microsoft Teams: Avatars wardrobe updates available soon

New professional wardrobe styles for avatars are coming to Microsoft Teams, with a rollout expected to complete by mid-May 2024. This update will be available for various Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 licenses and will require no admin action prior to rollout. Users can customize their avatars in the Avatars for Teams app. Some may experience color changes in their avatar’s outerwear, which can be easily customized.

TLS server authentication: Deprecation of weak RSA certificates

Weak RSA key lengths for certificates will be deprecated on future Windows OS releases later this year. We recommend you use a stronger solution of at least 2048 bits length or an ECDSA certificate, if possible. Support for the RSA algorithm itself won’t be affected.
