Microsoft Teams: Automatic tags (@mentions) by department and job title

With automatic tags, your frontline workers can reach each other by department or job title in Microsoft Teams channel conversations. Anyone on the team can use the tags in @mentions to notify the people who are associated with the tag.

Your frontline can quickly and easily reach the right groups of people. Because the tags are automatically created based on your mapped attribute values, team owners do not have to manually create and assign tags or manage them locally.

Device readiness checks for expedited Windows quality updates

If you use Windows Update for Business deployment service to expedite quality updates, your workflow is becoming easier. You can now proactively check the readiness of all devices in your organization before deploying an actual security update in an expedited way. A new article describes how you would use Microsoft Graph to call for a device readiness test. Microsoft Purview | Audit: Simplified permissions

As previously communicated in MC679529 (October 2023), we simplified permissions for Microsoft Purview Audit. This message is a clarification. 

We have simplified the controls to manage Audit permissions in Microsoft Purview. You can now manage permissions from the Microsoft Purview Compliance portal. To search or export the audit log, administrators or members of investigation teams must be assigned to at least one of the View-Only Audit Logs or Audit Logs roles. These roles can be assigned through the Microsoft Purview Compliance portal. By default, these roles are assigned to the Audit Reader and Audit Manager role groups on the Permissions page in the Compliance portal.

Microsoft Edge: Moving Managed Site Indicator (Briefcase icon) into the lock icon in the address bar omnibox

The briefcase icon which signals that a page is managed, has been moved into the lock icon within the address bar. If an admin would like to see whether there are protections for a given page, they can click to open the lock icon in the address bar to look for the briefcase icon.

Microsoft Teams: Expanded incoming call setting options for Teams Phone Mobile users

Teams Phone Mobile users will now the flexibility to choose whether group calls, calls received as part of a call queue, and meeting nudges are received natively on their mobile phone or in the Teams app. This new capability enables greater flexibility and mobility and allows users to easily move these calls between their native dialer or the Teams app without interruption.

OneDrive: New empty state images

You will see new and improved images and text in various views on OneDrive for Web when there are no files associated with those views. These images will appear in new OneDrive accounts that have no stored files, and they may appear in existing OneDrive accounts that have no recent, favorited, shared, or recycled files. As an example, if you have no favorited files, you will see an image of a star with text that reads “Items you favorite will show up here.”
