Retirement notice: MDE and XDR APIs retiring; migrate to Microsoft Graph Security API

Introduction

We’re retiring the Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) API and XDR API and transitioning customers to the Microsoft Graph Security API. This update aligns our security integrations with a unified interface and schema across Microsoft Defender products. The Microsoft Graph Security API provides broader data coverage, improved consistency, and better scalability for automation and security workflows.

MTA-STS and SMTP DANE mode on connectors

Exchange Online will let admins control MTA-STS and SMTP DANE validation modes on outbound connectors starting late February 2026. Modes include Opportunistic (default), None (disables validation), and Mandatory (enforces SMTP DANE). No action is needed unless changes to validation behavior are desired.

Microsoft Purview: Insider Risk Management – New Microsoft Fabric lakehouse risk indicators

Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management will add new ready-to-use risk indicators for Microsoft Fabric lakehouse activities, available worldwide by late February 2026. These indicators help detect data theft or leakage and can be enabled by admins in the Purview portal; they are not enabled by default.

Reminder: “Require approved client app” control in Microsoft Entra Conditional Access will be retired in June 2026

The “Require approved client app” control in Microsoft Entra Conditional Access will retire in June 2026. Organizations should update policies to use the “Require application protection policy” control for equivalent and enhanced protection. After retirement, the old control will no longer be enforceable.

Microsoft Teams: Teams button on certified for Microsoft Teams personal peripheral devices one-click access to voice in Microsoft 365 Copilot within the Teams mobile app (iOS).

Now, you can connect your certified for Microsoft Teams personal Bluetooth device (such as your personal headset or earbuds) and with one press of the Teams button you can launch the Teams mobile app and invoke voice in Microsoft 365 Copilot within Teams. This feature eliminates the hassle of navigating menus on your mobile phone, giving you instant access to your personal AI assistant for quick conversational voice answers. This capability is initially available in iOS. Android and desktop client will be supported in a future release.
