Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps will update the Microsoft 365 connector configuration page in January 2026, adding clearer layouts and new default values for new connectors to reduce misconfigurations. Existing connectors remain unchanged. Admins should review current settings to ensure required Entra permissions are enabled.

Endpoint DLP-sensitive data alerting retiring in Defender; use Purview DLP

Microsoft is retiring endpoint-sensitive data alerting in the Microsoft Defender portal by March 23, 2026. Organizations must switch to Microsoft Purview DLP for alerting, enforcement, and investigation of sensitive data activities on endpoints. Existing Defender alert policies will stop generating alerts after this date.

Branded meeting reactions in Teams Premium

Microsoft Teams: Choose your “Enter” key behavior in Teams Chat Settings

Microsoft Teams will add a per-user setting allowing users to choose if pressing Enter sends a message (default) or starts a new line (with Ctrl/Cmd + Enter to send). Shift + Enter always inserts a new line. This applies to Desktop and Web, rolling out February–March 2026, with no admin action needed.

Microsoft Viva: Viva Glint – New permissions

Microsoft Viva Glint introduces granular permissions for Advanced Configuration, Nudges, General Settings, and Integrations. The top role is renamed “Viva Glint Service Admin,” assignable only via Microsoft Admin Center by M365 Global or Viva Glint Tenant Admins. Rollout starts and completes in February 2026.
