Microsoft Purview | eDiscovery Content Search case changes

Starting February 16, 2026, Microsoft Purview eDiscovery Content Search cases will no longer support review sets or case-level data sources. Users needing advanced review features should use dedicated eDiscovery cases. Existing searches and exports remain unaffected; no action is needed if only searching and exporting.

Microsoft Teams: Browser selection for links in Teams Mobile

Starting February 2026, Teams Mobile on Android and iOS will prompt users to choose a browser for non-Office and PDF links, encouraging Microsoft Edge use with SSO and enhanced security. The feature is enabled by default, configurable via PowerShell, and allows users to set their preferred browser in app settings.

Introducing New Paid Extended Service Term (EST)

Microsoft introduces a paid Extended Service Term (EST) replacing the automatic grace period, allowing monthly paid service extensions after subscription end. Options at term end include timely renewal, paid EST with prorated charges and no changes allowed, or cancellation with 90-day data retention. Applies to subscriptions under the Microsoft Customer Agreement starting Feb 9, 2026 (direct) and April 1, 2026 (CSP).

Hardening changes coming to Common Log File System (CLFS) authentication

A new hardening authentication mitigation has been introduced for the Common Log File System (CLFS) driver. Windows updates that include this new version of CLFS will initiate a 90 day “learning mode” period during which authentication codes will be added to log files automatically. Teams application update needed to enable Explicit Recording Consent feature on Teams Phone Devices

Microsoft Teams Phone Devices will require app version 1449/1.0.94.2025443703 to enable Explicit Recording Consent for 1:1 VoIP calls starting January 2026. Administrators must update devices before enabling this policy, which prompts participants for consent before recording or transcription begins.

Microsoft Dataverse – Ending Support for configuring Table‑Level Deleted-Records Keeping

Beginning February 2026, Microsoft Dataverse will no longer support configuring deleted-records keeping at the individual table level. Deleted records will now be managed consistently at the environment level for all tables.
