This initial communication is to notify customers that starting in Fall 2023 (September 2023), users using unsupported bowsers will be redirect to the light version of Outlook on the web. This will align with the experience with other Microsoft 365 web applications (MC518729 February ’23).

Microsoft Defender for Identity: Classic portal automatic redirection

Beginning on June 30, 2023, access to Microsoft Defender for Identity legacy portal at portal.atp.azure.com will be unavailable. Any request will be automatically redirected to Microsoft 365 Defender portal at security.microsoft.com. All new and existing tenants will be automatically redirected to the Microsoft 365 Defender portal, and the option to opt-out will no longer be available.

Microsoft Viva: Campaign Hub, Search for Campaigns and Executive Sponsorship for Campaigns

Campaigns in Viva Engage is launching three new features: campaign hub, search category for campaigns, and executive sponsorship for campaigns. Users will be able to discover and find campaigns. Leaders will be able to sponsor the campaigns they support. Campaigns that have executive sponsors will also show up in Leadership Corner.

Microsoft Defender for Office empowers end users to report suspicious messages in Microsoft Teams

Soon the ability for Microsoft Teams users to report messages within Teams as security risk will be turned on by default. Security risk messages could include ones that contain phishing or spam or malicious content, such as phishing URL or malware file, spam content. To learn how end users can report, see User reported message settings in Microsoft Teams.

NOTE: This only applies to Microsoft for Defender Plan 2 customers or Microsoft E5/ Office E5 customers.

Microsoft Edge: Enhanced security mode on by default

Enhanced security mode is being turned on by default to “Balanced” mode for x64 Windows, x64 macOS, x64 Linux, and ARM64 systems. Also, administrators have 2 new policies to manage the Enhanced security mode user experience: EnhanceSecurityModeIndicatorUIEnabled and EnhanceSecurityModeOptOutUXEnabled.

Microsoft Teams: QR code to reserve a room on Teams Panels

This feature lets users easily book a room for meetings now, in the future, or as part of a scheduled meeting by scanning a QR code on the scheduling panel with their mobile device. Requires the Teams mobile app on an Android or iOS mobile device.
