Microsoft Teams: Improved Shared Line Experience

Teams calling allows users (delegators) to share lines with other users (delegates). Shared line appearance lets a user choose a delegate to answer or handle calls on their behalf.

We are launching a simplified experience for users who have set up call delegation which will be available on the Teams mobile app. Mobile users now have a Shared Line Appearance tab on the calls app. The new UI will allow delegates to easily view the different delegator lines they manage and their own delegates.

Outlook: Disallow Reactions on Specific Emails

We are developing a suite of improvements that support the Reactions in Outlook feature, including methods for a sender to disallow reactions on an email they are about to send, or methods for an admin to control which emails in their tenant should disallow reactions.

Different Outlook endpoints will differ in terms of timing of full support for the feature (i.e., UI entry point to Disallow Reactions and UI-disablement when reactions are disallowed). Server-side support will roll out in advance (i.e., attempts to react on emails that have reactions disallowed will not result in a Reaction signal).

Teams Premium Trial

Beginning rollout in late September, users in your organization will be able to initiate a self-service trial of Microsoft Teams Premium using their Azure Active Directory (AAD) credentials with no requirement to input payment information, while providing complete visibility and control to their Microsoft 365 admin. Self-servicing allows end users to start the 60-day trial and generate signals on utilization for IT to identify users that would benefit from a Teams Premium license. These trial licenses are separate from your existing Teams Premium licenses.

Note: These trial capabilities will be available worldwide. Trials are not available for Government customers.

Microsoft Teams: App centric management in Teams Admin Center to manage the Apps access for tenants, end-users, and groups

App centric management introduces new admin settings to control who in the tenant can install Teams apps. First, admins can set a default value for new apps that are published to Teams app store.

Second, admins can edit the availability of an app to ‘All users can install’, ‘Specific users and groups can install’, or ‘No user can install’. This feature evolves the existing app permission policies and provides admins with the ability to manage access to the app individually.

The app permission policies for existing customers are migrated to maintain existing app availability in the tenant.
