Microsoft Purview: Data Loss Prevention-Alert Classification Property for DLP Alerts on Purview Portal

This feature introduces the ability to classify DLP alerts directly in the Purview portal. In addition to assigning a status, customers can now categorize alerts as True Positive, False Positive, or Benign Positive. This capability helps security teams better organize, track, and manage alerts, enabling more accurate reporting and efficient incident handling.

Microsoft Edge: Password affiliation service

Password autofill suggestions in Edge are currently based on top-level domain matching, which means the same credentials can be suggested on sites like account.microsoft.com and office.microsoft.com. With this feature, Edge groups related domains together across various desktop and mobile properties called affiliations. When a customer visits a URL, the Edge client will query the affiliations backend to obtain “affiliated groups” for that URL. The process involves sending a hash of the visited URLs to the service, which then returns a list of affiliated URLs and ensures that the relevant credentials will be displayed in the autofill suggestions across affiliated domains. Admins can control access to this feature using the PasswordManagerEnabled policy.

Outlook: New and improved People Hub on Web

The new Outlook Web People Hub offers a modern multi-column layout, faster search, automatic duplicate linking, and enriched contacts with organizational data. Rolling out from January to March 2026, all users will be auto-migrated to this improved experience with no admin action needed.

Microsoft Teams: Select multiple messages to forward

Microsoft Teams will introduce Multi-Select Forward, allowing users to forward up to five messages together in one bundled message on desktop and web starting January 2026. Mobile users can view but not forward multiple messages. The feature is on by default, requiring no admin action.

Learning Activities now available in Microsoft 365 Education and Copilot

Learning Activities is now available in Microsoft 365 Education and Copilot, enabling educators and students to create interactive practice tools like flashcards from existing content. It rolled out worldwide by December 2025, is enabled by default for eligible licenses, and can be disabled by admins if desired.

Microsoft Purview: Role management update

Microsoft Purview will map certain admin roles to new Microsoft Entra roles to enhance security and synchronize permissions automatically by March 2026. High-privileged Purview roles will correspond to three Entra roles, with no customer action needed. Do not assign these roles directly in Entra.

Microsoft Purview Data Security Investigations will add a new purge mitigation action by early 2026, allowing admins to delete sensitive or overshared content during investigations. Enabled by default, it respects existing policies and requires no prior admin action. Security teams should be informed and documentation updated accordingly.

Take Action: Out-of-band update to address MSMQ service issues leading to queue operations and resource-related errors

Microsoft has identified an issue affecting Message Queuing (MSMQ) functionality in some enterprise environments after installing the December 2025 Windows security update (released December 9, 2025). Individuals using Windows Home or Pro editions on personal devices are very unlikely to experience this issue, as it primarily affects enterprise or managed IT environments.
