Viva Engage community admins can soon update cover photos directly from the Teams iOS app, aligning with existing capabilities on other platforms. This feature, enabled by default without admin setup, will roll out worldwide from late December 2025 to early January 2026. No compliance issues identified.

Microsoft Planner will support Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) content sensitivity labels by December 15, 2025, enabling encryption, blocking copy/print/export, and enforcing read-only access. This enhances data protection and compliance, complements existing container-level labels, and requires no changes to current labels but recommends reviewing Purview settings and updating training.

Microsoft Teams will increase bandwidth for NDI feeds in meetings, enabling up to eight distinct 1080p streams without pinning or spotlighting participants. This automatic enhancement requires no admin changes and will roll out from early to mid-January 2026 for Windows and Mac desktop users.

Communication Compliance is improving the capabilities and customization of policy alerts. Admins will be able to customize the alert frequency per policy as well as adjust the email alerts frequency and recipients within the policy creation wizard.
Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance provides the tools to help organizations detect regulatory compliance violations (for example SEC or FINRA), such as sensitive or confidential information, harassing or threatening language, and sharing of adult content. Built with privacy by design, usernames are pseudonymized by default, role-based access controls are built in, investigators are opted in by an admin, and audit logs are in place to ensure user-level privacy.


Microsoft is launching a new Purview Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) experience by early 2026, enhancing AI observability, posture reporting, and automation with Security Copilot. It integrates third-party data signals, extends risk assessments, and maintains existing policies without requiring admin action.
