Copilot for Microsoft 365: Take notes in Microsoft OneNote directly in the workflow from the canvas
OneNote is rolling out the new Take notes with Copilot feature for users. Copilot now helps users gather and create notes using natural language prompts based on users’ Microsoft 365 content directly on the Notebook pages that are personal and non-shared with other users.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 417475.
Available platform: OneNote on Windows only.
When this will happen:
General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out mid-January 2025 and expect to complete late March 2025.
How this will affect your organization:
If users frequently take notes in OneNote, they may spend time manually preparing meeting agendas, capturing notes during meetings, or gathering relevant information about projects to stay effective and productive at work. With the new Take notes with Copilot feature, users can now use a natural language prompt editor directly on the canvas to pull relevant information from their Microsoft 365 documents, messages, and emails into their notes.
IT admins can now expect OneNote on Windows to help users accomplish some of their notetaking workflows faster directly from the notebook page canvas, which they otherwise were able to do via the Copilot Chat pane.
For more information, visit Gather and create notes with Copilot in your personal OneNote notebooks directly on the page on the Microsoft 365 Insider Blog.
What you need to do to prepare:
This feature will be available by default to any user with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and should respect all existing Copilot admin settings. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.
