As announced in MC689933 (November ’23), Copilot with commercial data protection (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise) is now generally available as of December 1, 2023.

When this will happen:

December 1, 2023: Copilot is now Generally Available.

How this will affect your organization:

Copilot with commercial data protection is backed by the Universal Commercial License Terms for Online Services:

  • All references and terms specific to Preview will be removed.
  • Customer Copyright Commitment and Microsoft Generative AI Services terms now apply.
  • The data protection addendum (DPA) does not apply; if you require the DPA, please consider Copilot for Microsoft 365 or Azure OpenAI.
  • No additional action is needed to accept the updated terms.

Copilot is a public web service available broadly on copilot.microsoft.com, bing.com/chat, and in Microsoft Edge and Windows. When eligible users sign in with their work or school accounts (Entra ID), commercial data protection is added to Copilot. Copilot with commercial data protection is available for users of eligible Microsoft 365 licenses at no additional cost (see MC689933). More Entra ID users will be added over time.

Copilot is currently not available for government cloud customers or for student use.

What you need to do to prepare:

If your organization has strict requirements for using generally available products, you can now enable Copilot and use it with commercial data protection.
