Customized Retention Policies: Long-Term Retention

We’re rolling out a new feature to enable customers with Microsoft Purview Audit (Premium) and the 10-Year Retention Add-on to create additional customized retention policies.

When this will happen:

Rollout to general availability in the worldwide clouds will begin in early December and is expected to be complete by late December.

How this will affect your organization:

This new feature release enables additional customization for retention duration for Microsoft Purview Audit (Premium) and 10-year Audit Log Retention Add-On users.

• Currently, Audit (Premium) customers can retain data for 90 days , 6 months, 9 months, and up to 1 year. With this update, customers can now apply 3-year, 5-year, and 7-year retention policies.

What you need to do to prepare:

Apply the Audit Premium and 10 Year Retention Add-on Licenses to each relevant user in order to apply 3-year, 5-year, and 7-year retention policies to their data.
