Microsoft 365 Compliance Center update: eDiscovery PowerShell cmdlet supporting certificate-based authentication (CBA)

This is a follow up to the post MC515529. Basic authentication is no longer supported and has been retired. See Deprecation of Basic Authentication in Exchange Online | Microsoft Learn

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 106112

When this will happen:

Basic authentication will be retired by end of May 2023 for any tenants that had an exception.

How this will affect your organization:

This change will affect the authentication method of your organization’s eDiscovery scripts that relied on a username and password stored in a local file/vault.

What you need to do to prepare:

Assess if the changes will affect your organization’s eDiscovery workflow. If so, update internal documentation and script authentication. Provide training to all eDiscovery users in your organization and update relevant documentation if needed.
