Microsoft 365 Copilot: Access agents from the Microsoft Edge sidebar

Users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license will soon be able to access previously added agents from the Microsoft Edge sidebar starting late May 2025. This feature will be available by default, and no admin action is required. Users cannot create or add new agents from the sidebar.

Users will soon be able to access agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot from the Edge sidebar (on the right side of the screen) while using Copilot.

This message applies to Web chat and Work chat for users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and to Copilot Chat for users with a Microsoft 365 license.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 482410.

When this will happen:

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in late May 2025 and expect to complete by early June 2025.

How this will affect your organization:

Users must first add agents to Microsoft 365 Copilot for them to be available in the Edge sidebar when using Copilot. (Learn more about adding agents: Introducing agents – Microsoft Support). Users will not be able to create, search for, or add new agents when using Copilot from the Edge sidebar at this time.

Users will be able to access their previously added agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot from the Edge sidebar while using Copilot. This rollout will help users focus on their main browser activities and access agents without switching to another screen.

This feature will be available by default.

Select Agents from the three-dot menu (…) in the top right of the Edge sidebar:

Engage with agents on the Edge sidebar, such as the Prompt Coach:

What you need to do to prepare:

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified dates with no admin action required before the rollout. Review your current configuration to assess the impact on your organization. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation.
