Microsoft Outlook: Extend Sensitivity Label to Meetings (preview)

Sensitivity labeling will soon be available for meetings in Outlook for preview.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 98924

When this will happen:

Preview: We will begin rolling out in mid-December 2022 and expect to complete rollout by mid-January 2023.

GA: We will begin rollout out in early February 2023 and expect to complete rollout by late February 2023.

How this will affect your organization:

With this update, once admins configure sensitivity labels for meetings in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal, users can apply sensitivity labels to meetings and protect its content.

The meeting content (meeting body and file attachments) will be encrypted, and attendees can view the decrypted content in OWA, Mac and Outlook Win32.

If a user opens the protected meeting message in other clients, the user will then get a link to the message. Upon authentication, they can view the decrypted content (similar to e-mail).

Note: Pre-requsite – E5 subscription

What you need to do to prepare:

Outlook Win32 – Needs to be in Office Insider Current Channel (preview) to get the build that provides ‘compliant/ protected meeting‘ capabilities.
