Microsoft Purview compliance portal: New cmdlet for exporting Activity explorer logs (GA)

Currently available in public preview (MC400567), we’re introducing a new cmdlet option in Security & Compliance PowerShell to enable export of all Activity explorer log data.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 93281.

When this will happen:

Rollout will begin in mid-October and is expected to be complete by mid-November.

How this will affect your organization:

Activity explorer in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal provides a historical view of activities on your labeled content.

The Activity explorer Export feature has a limitation of 10,000 rows of data. This update will allow admins to use a new cmdlet within Security & Compliance PowerShell, Export-ActivityExplorerData, to export all rows of data for up to 30 days of historical activity.

What you need to do to prepare:

To use this cmdlet in Security & Compliance PowerShell, you need to be assigned permissions. For more information, see Permissions in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal.
