Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention: Configure policy tips for emails with sensitivity labels

Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention policies can be configured to enable policy tips for emails with sensitivity labels.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 100157.

When this will happen:

  • Rollout to public preview will begin in early March and is expected to be complete by end of March.
  • Rollout to general availability will begin in early April and is expected to be complete by end of April.

How this will affect your organization:

Admins can configure DLP policies in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal to define policy tips that appear for users when they attempt to send email messages that include a sensitivity label on the email or attachment. Once configured, when a user attempts an action that triggers the DLP policy rule, a pop-up will appear containing a policy tip, including warning the user their message contains sensitive content, requesting the user provide justification for the action, or alerting the user that their action is blocked by policy rules.

What you need to do to prepare:

Configure policy tips for Data Loss Prevention in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal.
