Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention: Support for trainable classifiers (prevew)

Coming soon to public preview, we’re introducing machine learning (ML) based trainable classifiers for DLP policies along with enhanced templates and default policies that incorporate trainable classifiers. Additionally, classifier-related information and alerts will appear within Activity explorer.

When this will happen:

Public preview: Rollout will begin in late July and is expected to be complete by mid-August.

How this will affect your organization:

Admins can now use trainable classifiers as a condition for detecting sensitive or business-critical data and applying DLP policies. The following trainable classifiers will be available across business content and behavior categories:

The following enhanced templates will also be available when creating a new DLP policy, and combine trainable classifiers and sensitive info types for comprehensive coverage and protection: 

  • US GLBA Enhanced: for detection and protecting financial data and meeting compliance with the GLBA 
  • US Healthcare Act (HIPAA): for detection and protecting healthcare and medical data and meeting compliance with HIPAA and other related regulations 
  • US PII Enhanced: for detection and protecting privacy content commonly found in personnel and human resource documents for meeting compliance with PII and other state privacy regulations
