Microsoft Teams: Custom policy packages
Earlier this month, March 2021 (MC243733), we announced the release of policy package assignment to groups that allowed you to assign multiple out of the box policies to a group of users based on roles to better manage policies in your organization.
This new release of custom policy packages will enable you to build and configure your own set of policy packages tailored to users with similar roles in your organization.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 70776
When this will happen
We will begin rolling this out in early April and expect to complete rollout by mid-April.
How this will affect your organization
As an admin, you will now be able to create your own policy packages by adding the policy types and policies that you need. After you create your custom policy package you can then assign it to users in your organization.
- Custom policy packages requires an advanced communication license for each user that receives a custom policy package assignment.
- Custom policy packages are available in the Teams Admin Center and Microsoft Teams PowerShell.
What you need to do to prepare
To prepare, please review the custom policy package documentation and purchase advanced communication licenses here for any users you’d like to assign a policy package to.
