Microsoft Teams: Standard and Basic licensed Teams rooms on Windows in the Teams admin center portal
All Teams Rooms on Windows devices will transition to the Teams Rooms Pro management portal by June 1, 2025, for unified device management. Current Teams admin center users must switch to the new portal. For preparation, view instructional videos and documentation. More details are available on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 482539.
We will be transitioning all Teams Rooms on Windows devices, irrespective of their licenses, to the Teams Rooms Pro management portal to meet users’ needs for a one-stop destination to configure, monitor, and manage Teams rooms devices. This change delivers a unified device management and admin portal experience.
Users currently using the Teams admin center (TAC) will have device management functionalities within the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal. Teams Rooms on Windows devices will not be available in Teams admin center after June 1, 2025.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 482539.
When this will happen:
General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High): We will begin rolling out May 1, 2025, and expect to complete in early May 2025.
How this will affect your organization:
All Teams Rooms on Windows devices with Standard or Basic licenses will be visible in the Teams Rooms Pro management portal at https://portal.rooms.microsoft.com. Organizations that have never used the Teams Rooms Pro management portal will need to add additional URLs found in Enroll a Teams Room in the Pro management portal. Those with Teams or Teams Device administrator roles will be able to access the Teams Rooms Pro management portal and see their devices after May 1, 2025. Users with Basic and Standard Teams Rooms licenses will have device management functionalities within the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal. They will not, however, have access to the full suite of device management and space analytics features available with a Teams Rooms Pro license.
What you need to do to prepare:
For those that have used only Teams admin center and are unfamiliar with the capabilities of Teams Rooms Pro Management, we encourage you to view the short videos on Teams Rooms Pro Management – YouTube and product documentation Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro management.
