Microsoft Teams: Town hall Graph APIs

Microsoft Teams Live Events is being replaced by Teams Town Hall, supported by new Microsoft Graph APIs releasing end of May 2024. These APIs will enable management of Town Halls and their components. Rollout begins July 2024, with no admin action needed but user notification recommended.

Microsoft Teams Live Events is replaced by a Teams Town Hall that allows users to create live events built on the meeting infrastructure. Town Hall will be backed by new Microsoft Graph application programming interfaces (APIs) that we expect to release at the end of May, 2024. These new Graph Town Hall APIs will help organizations programmatically do the following:

  • Get, create, update, publish, and cancel Town Halls.
  • Get and list Town Hall sessions.
  • Get, list, create, and delete Town Hall presenters.
  • Create or update Town Hall presenter profile photos.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 387128

When will this happen:

General Availability (Worldwide): Rollout will begin early July 2024 and is expected to complete mid-August 2024.

How this will affect your organization:

Going forward, any user who wants to create a Town Hall using APIs will need to use the new set of Town Hall specific APIs.

What you need to do to prepare:

This rollout will happen automatically with no admin action required. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.
