Microsoft Teams: use an iPad to present in a live event

Live event presenters will soon be able to use an iPad to make a presentation.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 68846.

When this will happen

We will begin rolling out the updated Teams app for iPad in early February (previously January) and expect the rollout to be complete late February (previously January).

How this will affect your organization

If you have enabled Live events in your tenant, presenters will be able to use an iPad to make a live event presentation. Prior to this update, a Live event presenter could join only as an attendee when using an iPad.

What you need to do to prepare

You might want to notify your users about this new capability and update your training and documentation as appropriate.

  • To use an iPad for presenting, ensure it is running iOS 10 and later.
  • Ensure potential presenters have the required minimum iPad versions: iPad Mini 2/3, iPad 4, iPad Air 1/2, or any iPad Pro.
  • When sharing video and presenting, bandwidth requirements for 1280×720 video resolution is a minimum bit rate of 2,000 kbps.
