Gain granular control over external communication. By setting custom External Access policies, you can define domain allow/deny lists and assign them to specific users or groups – capabilities that were previously tenant-wide only (“Teams and Skype for Business users in external organizations”). Use this to pilot with a department, restrict high‑risk roles to approved partners, or open federation broadly where appropriate. Example: Allow Group A to communicate only with a specific domain, while Group B can communicate with all external domains.

Microsoft Teams now allows users to report messages they believe were incorrectly flagged as security concerns. This feature is available in one-on-one chats, group and meeting chats, as well as public and private channels.

The sub-domains feature in Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps – Cloud Discovery will be retired starting September 22, 2025, and fully deprecated by December 31, 2025, due to low usage. No admin action is needed, but sub-domain insights will no longer be available after deprecation.

Microsoft Entra will roll out a refreshed credential enrollment and management user experience in early November 2025, improving usability and accessibility without changing functionality. No action is required, but informing help desk teams is recommended to ease the transition. No compliance issues identified.

Microsoft Viva is adding a new Posts tab to the Communications dashboard, allowing users to manage drafts, scheduled, and published posts, filter by ownership, and create posts directly. Rolling out mid-September to October 2025, it’s on by default with no admin action needed.

AI file actions are expanding to SharePoint document libraries on the web, enabling users with a Copilot license to summarize, compare, generate FAQs, ask questions, and create audio overviews from files. The feature is on by default, rolling out from mid-May to mid-September 2025, requiring no admin setup.
