Licensing updates for Interpreter

Interpreter licensing now includes 20 interpretation hours per user monthly with Microsoft 365 Copilot, up from 2 hours. Usage monitoring tools will be available after March 31, 2026. No current usage charges apply; future additional hours may be purchasable with advance notice. Changes are effective immediately.

Improved device selection on Microsoft Teams meeting join screen

New support for HR and employee profile data in Microsoft 365 Copilot connectors

Microsoft 365 Copilot now supports HR and employee profile data via connectors like BambooHR and custom Microsoft Graph connectors, enhancing people profiles with authoritative external data. Administrators configure these in the Admin Center. Public preview runs mid-May to mid-November 2025; general availability starts mid-November 2025.

Microsoft Exchange Online: New limit for dynamic distribution groups (DDGs) for Microsoft 365 operated by 21Vianet

Microsoft Exchange Online will limit each organization to 3,000 dynamic distribution groups (DDGs) starting November 2025. Once the limit is reached, new DDGs cannot be created until others are removed. This change is automatic, cannot be disabled, and admins should review and manage existing DDGs accordingly.

Outlook for Android will require Android 10.0 or higher starting January 2026

Starting January 5, 2026, Outlook for Android will require Android 10.0 or higher. Devices running Android 9.x or below will no longer receive updates or new features, though existing installations may work temporarily. Organizations should identify affected users and encourage OS upgrades.

Enhancements to the Deep Analysis tab of Email Entity page by Microsoft Defender for Office 365

Microsoft Defender for Office 365 will enhance the Deep Analysis tab on the Email Entity page with a refreshed UI, improved detonation chains, expanded metadata, and detailed behavior insights. Rollout starts October 2025 (preview) and November 2025 (general availability). No user action or compliance impact expected.

Outlook on the web activity-based timeout is retiring

Outlook on the web’s activity-based timeout (ABT) will retire by January 2026 (February for GCC/DoD). Admins must enable Microsoft 365 idle session timeout for consistent session control across apps. Users won’t auto-sign out without it. Prepare by reviewing ABT use, enabling the new timeout, and updating documentation.
