New Outlook for Mac Preview becomes the default experience in the Preview Channel

With usage growing daily in our preview experience, we are rolling out Outlook for Mac to Preview Channel as the default experience for any user who has never tried the new experience. The default-on Outlook toggle provides access to enhanced performance and user experience across Mail, Calendar, People, and Search.

We announced the toggle in July, 2020 (MC219576).

New Guide: Discover and configure sites that require IE mode

We’re releasing a new assistant for admins who want to configure Internet Explorer mode (IE mode) for Microsoft Edge. To detect the sites that need to use IE mode, many admins follow the Enterprise Site Discovery process. In this step-by-step assistant, you’ll get scripts to automate configuration of Enterprise Site Discovery, get IE mode recommendations from a cloud-based tool, and create an Enterprise Mode Site List that you’ll deploy to your users. This assistant will soon be available to Global Readers and Global Admins in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Announcing new options for custom sensitive information types

As previously messaged in (MC232031) and (MC233488), as part of your data classification efforts in the Microsoft 365 compliance center you can now customize built-in classifiers (sensitive information types) to meet your organization’s needs. We are rolling out some minor feature updates to enhance this customization experience.

Apps in External Scenarios

Apps will now be available for use in external meetings and chats. Users from the host organization (the user who creates a meeting or group chat) can install, update and delete apps. External users (belonging to other organizations) invited to the meeting or chat will be able to interact with only the apps host users install.
