Mesh event attendees can now see raised hands and reactions from attendees in other rooms during large, multi-room Mesh events. This creates a greater sense of audience feedback as a whole across all rooms in a Mesh event and increases total audience engagement.

Microsoft Teams: Teams chat support in Mesh events

Participants in Mesh events on PC and Mac can use Teams chat to communicate with all participants, across all rooms, within a Mesh event. Users can do this in the Microsoft Mesh PC app, the Mesh app in Teams, as well as in the chat message list of the Teams app.

Microsoft Teams: Intelligent recap support for ad-hoc meetings and calls

Intelligent recap is available for ad-hoc meetings and calls, like those started from ‘Meet now’ and started from chat. Now, Teams Premium and Copilot for Microsoft 365 licensed users can easily browse the recording by speakers and topics, as well as access AI-generated notes, AI-generated tasks, and name mentions after the ad-hoc meeting ends.

Plan for Change: Intune moving to support iOS/iPadOS 16 and higher later this year

Microsoft Intune will soon require iOS/iPadOS 16 or higher after the release of iOS/iPadOS 18. Organizations managing iOS/iPadOS devices should check Intune reporting to identify affected devices and users, and use Intune controls to manage OS versions. Apple User Enrollment with Company Portal support is ending.

Microsoft Copilot to update to enterprise data protection

Microsoft Copilot will update next month to include enterprise data protection for users with an Entra account. It will feature a new ad-free interface, with no changes for other Copilot experiences in Microsoft 365 apps. Rollout begins mid-September 2024, with no action needed for automatic redirection.

Take action: Enable multifactor authentication for your tenant before October 15, 2024

Enable multifactor authentication (MFA) for your tenant by October 15, 2024, to access Microsoft Azure portal, Microsoft Entra admin center, and Microsoft Intune admin center. Set up MFA early or apply to postpone the enforcement date if necessary. Without MFA, admin access will be restricted.

Microsoft Teams: External presenters can join on mobile

External presenters can now join Microsoft Teams events via the mobile app. This update, associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 409228, will roll out in stages starting early September 2024, with no admin action required. Microsoft Teams: Digital signage on Teams Rooms on Windows

Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows will soon feature digital signage to display dynamic content when devices are not in use. Admins can manage settings via the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal. The update requires Teams Rooms Pro license and app version 5.2, rolling out in September 2024. Third-party integrations and web URLs are supported as signage sources, excluding SharePoint and OneDrive URLs. The feature is off by default and requires configuration post-update.

Microsoft Outlook: Quickly see who is in the office based on work hours and location

Outlook is introducing a new calendar feature to show who will be in the office, based on users’ work hours and location settings. It will start rolling out in mid-August 2024 for Targeted Release and in early October 2024 for General Availability. This feature will be on by default.
