Microsoft Teams: Meeting participants can choose a breakout room from a list

Microsoft Teams will soon allow meeting participants to select their own breakout rooms. This feature will be available on Teams for Windows, Mac, and the web, and is part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 121269. Rollouts will begin in late September 2024 and be completed by late November 2024. The feature will be on by default and requires no admin action prior to rollout. Organizers should inform users and update documentation as needed.

SharePoint: New Content AI Rules in SharePoint to set sensitivity labels and retention policy

We are pleased to announce the establishment of two new rules for content AI in SharePoint. These rules can be triggered by a change in column data or the addition of a file to a SharePoint library. They will enable users to apply a retention policy and a sensitivity label, as predefined in Purview, to documents that meet the specified conditions.

Microsoft 365 admin center: New self-service purchase and trial settings

The Microsoft 365 admin center will introduce new settings for Global admins to manage self-service trials and purchases, with a rollout starting mid-September 2024. This feature will be on by default, and the MSCommerce PowerShell option will remain available. Admins should inform users and update documentation accordingly.

Copilot in the Microsoft Edge mobile application is being retired for Entra ID users

The Copilot feature in the Microsoft Edge mobile app for Entra ID users will be retired with version 128 in late August 2024. Users should use the Microsoft 365 mobile app for work and web chat instead. No action is required, but informing users is recommended.

Coming soon, you’ll be able to require approval at the campaign level for all your Amplify publications. The require approval feature brings compliance, accountability, and workflows to Lightweight Approvals in Amplify. By enabling required approval for a campaign, stakeholders can ensure that all campaign content adheres to organizational standards and receive the necessary approval before publishing, thus minimizing risks and errors.

You can require approval at the campaign level so that all Amplify publications within the campaign go through the approval process before the content is published. This is an optional setting that a user can choose to apply to a campaign. By requiring approval, organizations can apply a significant level of quality and security to their content, ensuring every piece of content aligns perfectly with their standards and expectations before it is published.
