New improvements are coming to the rollout wave functionality for Cloud Update. These enhancements will allow organizations to continue leveraging Microsoft Entra ID groups to set up rollout waves, with increased flexibility to configure more than the current limit of three waves. Additionally, admins will be able to assign custom delays between each wave, streamlining phased deployments and offering greater control over update distribution.

Use enhanced error reporting in Cloud Update for Microsoft 365 Apps updates to access clear, descriptive error messages that help you easily identify why an update did not complete successfully. Admins can review comprehensive insights across all Cloud Update-managed devices and drill down into individual devices for detailed information. This improved feature expands on the existing upgrade progress insights by grouping issues according to error codes and providing straightforward descriptions. These advancements enable admins to diagnose problems more efficiently, reduce support escalations, and take decisive corrective actions to boost monthly compliance rates.

Microsoft Purview network data security now integrates with Island, extending protection to Island’s browser-based workflows at the point of user interaction. With this integration, new and existing Island customers can configure Microsoft Purview collection and data loss prevention policies to detect and protect data shared with unmanaged cloud apps through the Island Enterprise Browser, the Island Extension, and browser add ins via HTTP and HTTPS, using the same classifiers, sensitive information types, and sensitivity labels used in other Purview policies. Island provides visibility and control at the presentation layer, including typed and pasted input, file transfers, and extension activity, so data can be inspected before it ever leaves the browser. This integration further enriches Purview Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), Insider Risk Management (IRM) risk score, enables data security and compliance for AI interactions, and more.

SharePoint will add AI citations analytics by mid-May 2026, showing how documents and pages are referenced by Microsoft Copilot and AI agents. Features include citation metrics in site usage, page analytics, and a new AI citations analytics page. No admin action is needed; Copilot licenses are required.

Microsoft Entra passkeys on Windows enable phishing-resistant, passwordless sign-in using Windows Hello on Entra-protected resources, including unmanaged devices. Public preview starts mid-March 2026. Organizations must opt in and configure policies to enable this feature; no impact occurs without activation.

Outlook for iOS and Android will support recommended and automatic sensitivity labels during email composition, aligning with Microsoft Purview Information Protection policies. This rollout starts mid-March 2026, is on by default for organizations with existing policies, and requires no changes to current Purview configurations.
