Viva Engage messages’ attachment links will be changed to SharePoint locations for better eDiscovery integration. This update, starting late June 2024 and completing by mid-July 2024, will make attachments appear with messages in eDiscovery review sets, aligning with other products and improving reliability. Organizations using eDiscovery should update their training and documentation.
The SharePoint News connector in Microsoft Teams will retire on July 22, 2024. Users should transition to alternatives like Viva Connections News notifications, Viva Amplify, or Teams Workflow. New connectors cannot be created after July 22, 2024, and existing ones will retire starting August 26, 2024. No admin action is required, but preparation steps are recommended.
In the new Outlook for Windows, users can now open attachments of all types in their respective desktop app by double clicking them. #newoutlookforwindows
With this feature, users of Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote will be able to save prompts that they have created to Copilot Lab and share them with their coworkers. Also, users on the Copilot Lab website who find a Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or OneNote prompt that they like will be able to launch Copilot and run that prompt with a single click of the new “Try in Copilot” button.
Create and highlight videocentric publications, like meeting content or executive messages, with the new video templates in Viva Amplify; this presents videos that are inline, playable, and beautiful.
This feature gives commercial customers the ability to publish Copilot prompts to groups within their organization.
The new coaching by Copilot experience allows you to apply the coaching suggestions given by Copilot by requesting to rewrite the email message based on the feedback received when using coaching by Copilot. With this update, you can accept and make Copilot rewrite the email in one click based on those coaching suggestions. This feature will be available in the new Outlook for Windows and web. #newoutlookforwindows
Upcoming mandatory infrastructure updates will require new IP endpoints to be allow-listed for all Azure service regions starting in March of 2024.
What action do I need to take?
Microsoft Teams will soon introduce enhanced chat features, including contextual information access and chat search, for desktop, web, and Mac users. Rollouts begin late July 2024 for Targeted Release and continue through September 2024 for different availability stages. No admin action is required for this update.
Microsoft 365 apps will introduce a new experience for setting user-defined permissions in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with updated names for permission levels. Preview starts mid-July 2024, with general availability in early September 2024. Organizations may need to update training materials accordingly.
