Microsoft Teams: Roster grouping for in-room participants through proximity join for Teams Rooms on Windows

When joining a meeting in a Microsoft Teams Room on Windows with a companion device, in-room participants will be grouped under the room node. Participants must join through Proximity Join with Microsoft Teams Rooms.

Microsoft Teams: Room video tile re-sizing based on people count for Teams Rooms on Windows

Using people count information, the room video tile is dynamically re-sized in Gallery view. If there is only one user in the room, the video tile will be the same size as the remote participant tile. If there is more than one user in the room, the room video tile will be 4x the size of the remote participant tile. Admins will be available to turn on/off the people count capability.

Microsoft Teams: Enhanced cross-platform meetings via SIP join for Teams Rooms

Joining SIP-based conferencing services like Google Meet, Zoom, Cisco Webex, and others via Teams Rooms offers a seamless collaboration experience, mirroring the native Teams interface. This integration supports features such as 1080p video, dual screen, various layout options, HDMI input, and others contingent on the third-party platform’s in-meeting controls. A SIP calling plan from a CVI partner, currently Pexip, is necessary. This is available for Teams Rooms customers with a Pro license.

Microsoft 365 app: Use sensitivity labels in Microsoft 365 apps when connected experiences are disabled

Your organization can now disable connected experiences for privacy concerns without impacting data security policies such as sensitivity labels. Services associated with Microsoft Purview (e.g. sensitivity labels and rights management) are no longer controlled by policy settings to manage privacy controls for Microsoft 365 Apps. Instead, these services will rely on their existing security admin controls in Purview portals.

Microsoft 365 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for web: Enhanced File menu and easier file renaming

Microsoft 365 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for web will soon feature an enhanced File menu and more efficient file renaming. Rollout begins mid-May 2024, completing by early October 2024. The update addresses user feedback for easier file management and clearer autosave indication. No admin action is required for the rollout.

Microsoft Viva Pulse: New questions and templates added to the existing content library

Viva Pulse is expanding its content library with 4 new templates and 53 questions, focusing on team priorities, efficiency, meeting effectiveness, and organizational progress. Rollout starts late June 2024, with completion by early July. Tenant admins should review and manage these additions as needed.

Microsoft SharePoint: Collaborate on SharePoint Pages and News with coauthoring

SharePoint is introducing coauthoring for Pages and News, allowing multiple authors to edit simultaneously with real-time changes. It’s associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 124853, starting late June 2024 for Targeted Release and early August 2024 for General Availability. No admin action is required for the rollout.

Microsoft Purview | Insider Risk Management: Adaptive Protection in GCC, GCCH, DoD

Adaptive Protection integration with Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention will be available for government clouds (GCC, GCC High, DoD) starting early July 2024. This allows admins to manage policies based on insider risk levels, such as preventing high-risk users from printing sensitive data. The feature is off by default and requires no admin action before rollout. More information can be found on Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 377674.
