Microsoft Teams:Updates to Get-CsOnlineUser cmdlet in Teams PowerShell Module and Teams Admin Center’s Manage Users Page

Microsoft Teams is expanding the scope of the Get-CsOnlineUser cmdlet and Teams Admin Center’s Manage Users Page to include all unlicensed users. The changes will roll out in late April 2024 and will affect the Teams admin center’s Manage Users Page and the Get-CsOnlineUser cmdlet in Teams PowerShell Module. Users who do not have a valid Teams license will be displayed in the output of the Get-CsOnlineUser cmdlet and the Teams admin center’s Manage Users Page after the initial 30 days and will also include unlicensed users who never had a valid Teams license. No admin action is required, but users may want to notify their users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.

Microsoft Teams Phone devices: Enable call forwarding directly from the device’s Home screen

Microsoft Teams certified phone devices will soon allow users to enable call forwarding directly from the device’s Home screen. Admins can enable call forwarding through Teams admin center or on the Teams phone device. Users should ensure their Teams phone devices are updated with the latest application to access the new feature. Rollout will begin in early May 2024 and complete by late May 2024 for worldwide GCC, and late June 2024 to late July 2024 for GCC High. Microsoft Teams Phone devices: Advanced calling and contact management on non-touch phones

Microsoft Teams certified non-touch phones will soon have advanced calling and contact management features. Users can park active calls, add directory contacts and groups, and enable Advanced calling on common area phones. Teams phone devices should be updated with the latest application from the Teams admin center. Rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required.

Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance – Enhanced investigation and remediation experience

Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance is introducing enhancements to investigation and remediation workflows to facilitate better-informed actions on policy matches. Enhancements include bulk policy exports, interactive how-to demos, and banners displaying the keywords/conditions flagged in a policy match. These enhancements will be available to designated Communication Compliance admins and investigators with the appropriate role-based access control permissions. The rollout will begin in late March 2024 and is expected to complete by early April 2024.

Microsoft Clipchamp: Remove pauses and silences in your videos

Microsoft Clipchamp is introducing a new smart AI-powered feature called Silence Removal that automatically finds and deletes unwanted silences and pauses longer than 3 seconds in video and audio. The feature is currently free to use in preview and will be available as part of a premium subscription after the preview. The rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required. Users can remove all pauses at once with a single click or review each pause and decide which to remove. The feature will begin rolling out in late March 2024 and is expected to complete by mid-July 2024.

Microsoft 365 admin center: Drive Microsoft Teams adoption with organizational messages

Microsoft Teams users can now receive organizational messages to drive adoption of Teams features. The feature will be rolled out from late March 2024 to mid-April 2024. Admins can configure a templatized organizational message in the Adoption Score Meetings category in the Microsoft 365 admin center. The feature will recommend users to use interactive features during Teams meetings. No admin action is required for the rollout.

Endpoint Data Loss Prevention – Enhanced privacy control: Limiting PII data access in Activity Explorer

Endpoint Data Loss Prevention will restrict PII data access in Activity Explorer to users with the role of Data Classification Content Viewer. This will roll out in mid-April 2024 and will affect existing roles. No admin action is required, but users should be notified and relevant documentation updated.

Microsoft Teams: Blind Transfers, call forwards and AA/CQ supported during outages

Microsoft Teams will soon support blind transfers, call forwards, and calls from Auto attendant and Call queue while in survivability mode during an outage. Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations editions of Windows 11, version 22H2 will receive non-security preview updates until June 26, 2024. Previously, we communicated that the last optional non-security preview update for version 22H2 would be released on February 27, 2024. Based on user feedback, this date has been changed so more customers can take advantage of our continuous innovation quickly.
