Upgrading Teams webinar users to new version

Microsoft Teams will replace the ‘Add registrations to meetings’ feature with the new ‘Webinar’ meeting type. The change will take effect on June 30th, 2024. Teams Admins will not be able to assign the “-AllowMeetingRegistration” to any new users, and Teams users with this policy will not be able to create any new ‘meetings with registration’ post-June 30th, 2024. Users can create webinars using the new ‘Webinar’ meeting type, and may update their internal documentation accordingly. Detailed documentation is available on the Microsoft Support website.

Microsoft Stream: Playlist support for Stream web part in Microsoft SharePoint

Microsoft Stream will support playlist publishing on SharePoint Online pages using a new Stream web part. The rollout will begin in early April 2024 and users will have two options for embedding playlists on a SharePoint page. No admin action is required for the rollout.

Manage Distribution Groups URL update in Microsoft Outlook on the web points to the new Microsoft Exchange Admin Center

The URL to manage distribution groups in Microsoft Outlook on the web will be updated to point to the new Exchange Admin Center. The old URL will continue to work until mid-2024. Non-admin users will be redirected to the new Exchange Admin Center. The update will happen automatically in early April 2024 and users are advised to refer to the article on managing Distribution Groups for more details.

Test Base for Microsoft 365 will transition to end-of-life (EOL) on May 31, 2024

Test Base for Microsoft 365 will reach end-of-life on May 31, 2024. Customers will receive instructions on how to complete the offboarding process to prevent disruption to their business. Product transitions to the cloud.microsoft domain – March 2024

Microsoft products and scenarios are now available at the cloud.microsoft domain, in parallel with the previous domains. The previous domains will be redirected to cloud.microsoft in the coming months. Users will be redirected to applications under cloud.microsoft domains gradually and automatically. No specific user action is required.

Microsoft Teams Phone devices: Redirect incoming calls directly to voicemail from incoming call notifications

Microsoft Teams Phone devices will soon have the feature to redirect incoming calls directly to voicemail without accepting or rejecting the call. Admins can control the rollout by configuring the ‘AllowCallRedirect’ parameter in the Teams calling policy. Users should ensure their Teams phone devices are updated to access the new feature. Rollout will happen automatically by the specified date.

Microsoft SharePoint Premium: Use Content query on document library columns

Microsoft SharePoint Premium users will be able to use content query on more document library column types starting from early April 2024. Users can query library columns by selecting the Content query icon in the search box. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Microsoft Teams: New Meet now experience in group chats

Microsoft Teams is introducing a new “Meet now” experience in group chats, allowing users to start an instant, ringless live discussion with colleagues without scheduling a meeting. The feature will be available in Teams 2.1 for desktop and web, as well as Teams Mobile for Android and iOS. The rollout will begin in early May 2024 and is expected to be completed by late May 2024. No admin action is required before the rollout, but users may want to be notified about the change and update relevant documentation.
